There are different varieties of Japanese Knotweed, notably Giant knotweed, which has larger leaves and generally taller plants. It is not as invasive as Japanese Knotweed, but has the same legal status and treatment methods. There is also Bohemian Knotweed (a hybrid of Japanese and Giant knotweed) and Japanese knotweed var. compacta – a smaller, less widespread variety. Take a look at our knotweed gallery to see what they look like.
