Japanese Knotweed is relatively easy to identify when you have seen it before, but often people are unsure or get confused as there are a few plants that have very similar characteristics. Once you know what the characteristics are, it is much easier to confirm in a positive or negative way. A key point to look out for is the distinctive heart shaped leaves which grow from the stems which are typically a reddish or marron colour in the summer and grow in a zig zag pattern.
